The trail leads through a particularly charming landscape: the Sausende Schlucht. Birds feel particularly at home in this secluded place, hence the trail name.
Marking: yellow aluminium signs with trail number, additional red-white-red tree marking.

0 km The starting point is at the Hubertushof inn. Hike a short distance uphill on the asphalt road to the village of Flatting, then turn left and hike along the field path towards the forest and past a wooden barn. On the left of the field path was a Reichsarbeiterdienst camp from 1938-1945. In 1945, the wooden barrack camp was set on fire by Allied tank guns. At the wayside shrine of St. Christopher, the path leads steeply uphill towards the forest. This beautiful section of the trail runs parallel to the Kirchbacher Bachl stream through the rocky sea of the so-called ...

1.3 km ... Whizzing Gorge. This inconspicuous stream often turns into a raging, wild river. Walk consciously through this gorge and pay attention to the various sounds of the forest. Above all, the bird call stations that have been set up will be of help to you. When you press the button, you hear the birdcalls of the lark, the goldcrest, the yellowhammer and other birds. At the stone resting place, we change sides of the stream and get information from the information board. Here we meet the Hochbühelweg, the Weg der Entschleunigung and the Falkensteinerweg. Then follow the asphalt road for a short distance until the fork on the right into the field path.
Look out for the turn-off for the Vogelstimmenweg (bird song trail). Continue to the right across a short stretch of meadow towards the forest. At the end of the forest you reach the ...

2.5 km ... Gallows square. This place probably dates back to the time of the Peasants' Wars, when rebellious peasants were executed here, on the old and important peasants' path. The last execution was in 1710 - a woman was hanged for poisoning her husband. Having reached the highest point of the hike, now march downhill along the field and forest path to the ...

3.1 km ... Steinberg village. Above the village you have a beautiful view of Peilstein and the Kleine Mühltal. After the village, at the junction with the Flatting-Kirchbach road, there is a nice rest area in the bend. On the left, the asphalt road leads you back to Flatting to the ...
